From a nutmeg plantation in the early 1800s to a renowned shopping district, Orchard Road’s evolution is a remarkable one.

Reminiscence about Orchard Road’s metamorphosis from its vibrant cafe society in the 1950s, through the urban redevelopment in 1970s, to globalisation in the 1990s. Don’t forget about the iconic hotels and  places of entertainment, the car showrooms, and vehicles which used to ply the roads, and the multitude of retail establishments!

Join us for our first Cakap Heritage session in 2015 as we explore Orchard Road’s transformation. As we revisit Orchard Road through photographs from our archival collection, we invite you to enrich this session by sharing your stories and memories.
