Khir Johari took members of the Singapore Heritage Society on an intimate walking tour of Kampung Gelam this morning (16 Oct 2010). Born in the Yellow Mansion (Gedung Kuning), Khir regaled us with his personal anecdotes and recollections of how life was like growing up in the oldest Malay district in Singapore. His cousin, Hidayah Amin wrote the book “Gedung Kuning: Memories of a Malay Childhood” (Singapore: Singapore Heritage Society & Helang Books, 2010).
